Sherman, Texas - ROSAMOND JUNE DAVIDSON FIENNING, 84, of Sherman, Texas, died Monday, May 21, 2007.
Rosamond and Robert Fienning raised their children, Dana, David and Robbie, in Duncan, Okla., and the family enjoyed membership in First Presbyterian Church.
On July 20, Rosamond's cremains will be committed, along with those of her husband and grandson, in Lutherania Cemetery, Richmond, Ind. Arrangements are under direction of Dannel Funeral Home of Sherman.
Rosamond was born June 5, 1922, in New Paris, Ohio, to Leo H. Davidson and Minnie Studt Davidson. She graduated with a teaching certificate from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Okla., as a top scholar. She taught for several years in Comanche, Okla., before moving to Sherman.
During her tenure at Sherman High School, Rosamond started the Vocational Office Education Program. Always a learner, she completed her master of arts degree in teaching at Austin College in Sherman.
During here retirement years, she became the winner of the senior division of the second annual Texoma Regional Spelling Bee.
A lover of nature, she enjoyed her membership in the Texoma Rockhounds organization and the Outdoor Club.
While raising her children, Rosamond participated as a Girl Scout leader for many years, and served as president of a regional Girl Scout Council headquartered in Duncan.
Also, Rosamond's membership and leadership as an elder at Grand Avenue Presbyterian Church allowed her the opportunity to enrich her life and participate in many areas of the church through personal service and outreach to the community. Her community service included organizational work for the Grayson County Habitat for Humanity.
For the 30 years preceding the death of her handicapped husband, Robert, on Aug. 28, 2005, Rosamond provided devoted care.
Survivors include a son, David and his wife Brenda of Bixby, Okla.; daughters, Dana Minaya and husband Frank of New York, N.Y., Samana of the Dominican Republic, and Robbie Blystone and husband John of Sherman; grandchildren, Tracy Robertson and husband Tom of Jenks, Okla., Brooke Forgione and husband Andrew of Tulsa, Okla., Matthew Blystone and wife Allissa of Dayton, Ohio, John David Blystone of San Marcos, Texas, and Gregory Minaya of New York; and three great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Fienning; all of her siblings; and a grandson.
