Dorothy Love Key "Granny" Sykes, 77, of Puryear passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at her residence in Puryear.
Her husband Bro. Warren T. Sykes survives. They were married on Jan. 27, 1951.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McEvoy Chapel of McEvoy Funeral Home.
Bro. Jerry Lee, her son-in-law, will officiate. Burial will follow in Puryear City Cemetery.
Named as pallbearers are Mitch, Matthew and Mason Sykes, Susan Lee, John and Tabitha Myrick, Tony Sykes and Brian Sykes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Renee' Sykes, Dee Sykes, Stephanie Sykes, Gala Sykes and Amanda Sykes.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday.
Born Sept. 16, 1930, in Henry County, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph Davis Key and Jewel Irene Morris Key.
Mrs. Sykes was a graduate of Puryear High School, an avid genealogy worker and a homemaker. She was devoted to her family, was an encouraging pastor's wife and a friend to many.
She was a member of Mansfield Baptist Church, where her husband is pastor.
She also leaves one daughter: Susan (Jerry) Lee of Murray; one son: Mitch (Renee') Sykes of Puryear; a brother-in-law: Tony (Dee) Sykes of Columbia;
Three grandchildren: Tabitha (John) Myrick of Puryear, Matthew (Stephanie) Sykes of Antioch and Mason Sykes of Puryear; one great-grandchild: Philip Lee Myrick of Puryear; three stepgrandchildren: Brandon Woodard of Hollow Rock, Justin Woodard, who is serving in the U.S. Army and Sara Beth Woodard of Madison;
One nephew: Brian (Gala) Sykes of Puryear; one niece: Amanda Sykes of Puryear; a great-nephew: Hayden Sykes of Puryear; an aunt: Larue Orr of Murray; and a number of cousins.
